Mark Carrier Arrives

Former NFL safety Mark Carrier joined the Baltimore Ravens Coaching staff today. Carrier will split secondary duties with Dennis Thurman. The Ravens are close to signing a special teams coordinator, which would leave only running backs coach left to fill.

Ravens Cool The Jets

The Baltimore Ravens were off to a rough start in 2005. After dropping their first two contests, as well as losing starting quarterback Kyle Boller to a toe injury in the season opener, a win was essential to jumpstart the season.

Backup Anthony Wright, with the help of a committed rushing attack and sure-handed receivers, delivered that victory in Week 4 against the New York Jets. The Purple-and-Black brought together all three phases of the game to pull out the 13-3 win, culminating in a game-clinching, 71-yard drive for the only touchdown of the contest.

Things started, however, with the defense. With the Baltimore Ravens holding on to a 6-0 lead going into the second half, running back Jamal Lewis lost an uncharacteristic fumble on Baltimore's second play from scrimmage. The Jets recovered and looked to be taking it 44 yards to the end zone, but tight end Todd Heap hustled back to save the score on the 1-yard line.
